Maybee gets a makeover

After getting to observe the work in Argentina, and reflect more deeply on our role in hospitals as Clowndoctors, I realised Maybee was in serious need of a makeover...

BEFORE

Maybee used to wear an outfit inspired by the Bumblebee. While this was child friendly, I always felt that it was too much in the realm of a 'party clown' costume for my taste. You couldn't get away with it as an outfit walking down the street. Becasue it was silly, there was also an expectation for me to be silly - making my job harder! 

AFTER

Now, I am much happier. For me, the parody of the Clowndoctor is stronger now. Maybee is firmly in the Theatre Clown tradition in this outfit. When she makes mistakes it is more of a surprise, and more funny. As a performer, I feel more at home.
